Publix Supermarket is a great place to work. It has been named by Fortune magazine as one of the 100 best companies to work for thirteen years in a row. There are job opportunities available in manufacturing, distribution, pharmacy, store management, corporate administration, as well as non-management store positions. There are salaried positions, hourly, fully time, and part time jobs available.
There are over 1000 Publix store locations in the southern states of Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Each store hires an average of 130 associates. Many of these positions are flexible part time jobs that accommodate schedules of students, parents, and retirees.
Publix employees are offered generous benefits in addition to competitive compensation. Full and part time employees are eligible for cash bonuses, 401K, group health insurance, credit union, tuition reimbursement, prescription discounts, weekly pay for hourly employees, and an employee assistance program. In addition, full time employees receive holiday and vacation pay, sick pay, life insurance, disability coverage, and bereavement pay.
To apply for a job at Publix Supermarket, visit a store near you and fill out an application at their computerized hiring center. Publix prefers that potential employees come in and apply in person so they know the person lives nearby and has been in a Publix store and is familiar with the environment. The exception is for positions in a Publix pharmacy. These jobs can be applied for on the Publix website. Many management and corporate jobs are filled by promoting current employees but these positions can also be applied for in each store on the hiring computer.
When you visit the Publix Supermarket official website, scroll to the bottom and click on the link that says “Careers.” This link will take you to an informative site that explains the various jobs available with Publix and how to apply for each one. You can print out the information you will need when you go to the store to complete the computerized application.
Since high school and college students fill many of the part time jobs at Publix, there is a turnover rate that keeps new positions opening as the students graduate and move on to other things. In addition, Publix is experiencing a long-term phenomenal growth and is opening new stores all the time. The job outlook with Publix is good and the benefits make a career with them worthwhile.
